the stars the gems are in are called Vega and Altair

theres a japanese celebration called the tanabata - the star festival

Vega and Altair represent two star-crossed lovers that they celebrate on july 7

that days the only day the lovers can meet every year so they hope for a clear day when they celebrate

Well...

I definitely don't think this is the time for marriage or proposing.

[Not when they've only been together a year. Not when they couldn't decide whose ship to live on. Not when they had Atroma looming over their shoulder, ready to remove one or both of them at a moment's notice.

The idea of marriage wasn't as preposterous as it used to be. But it was still a long way out there.]

But on the other hand, it seems wrong to just shove them in my closet or out an airlock.
