[The punching remark does get him to half-smile, at least. Yeah, Allen would do that, huh? Clay's not quite as hot-headed, and he's pretty sure even if he tried to punch him, he himself would probably get more hurt than the other guy would.]
... Yeah. I've been meaning to talk to him about it. I haven't seen him since the calibration. [Very elusive this guy is, even in a place where it's hard to hide. Jfc.] It's been bothering me since then. [He brings his hands back to his forehead, scrubbing them through his hair.] When I woke up, it felt like... I wanted to take a long shower and tear my head apart.
Maybe you could try sending him a message? Unless he's not answering those... [Yeah jeez this place is literally one giant hallway how do you manage it Orion]
[But it's his turn to reach out and stroke Clay's cheek, this time comfortingly] I can get that feeling... [With Nea, he felt it regularly] I'm sorry he did that to you. These calibrations are awful.
[He takes Allen's hand in his own and gives it a light squeeze, then starts to pull himself up to a sitting position. He's not leaving or anything, he just feels that this next part will be easier to talk about like this.]
Which brings me to the other thing I talked about. When I went to your calibration... I tried not to touch anything, I swear. But when I was looking for my visor, I ended up brushing up against - something. [Honestly, he wasn't really paying attention to what exactly they were.] And I saw a memory of your dad. Mana? I'm sorry I did that, and I didn't touch anything else. [Except for his own visor, but that was safe to take regardless.]
[That...catches him by surprise, hearing Clay say that name. He'll move to sit up as well, looking at Clay. He's not mad, since Clay is apologizing and it does sound like an accident, but there is concern in his expression]
What...did you see?
[Since man there's a whole range of memories involving Mana he rather Clay didn't see]
I can tell you that it looked like a happy memory.
[He tilts his head back, looking up at the ceiling as he recalls what he saw.]
He was putting a coat on you. It had a checkered pattern, and it was actually pretty cute. But man, you hated it. You know what kids are like. "I don't want to be cute!", and everything. You said you wanted to be a cool clown, while Mana told you there was no such thing.
In the end, he got the coat on you. He said you looked adorable, and you tried to tackle him, but he just lifted you up. He must've been pretty tall, because you freaked out a little bit, but he was safe.
[He looks at Allen then; it was a good memory, or at least, it looked like it to Clay. The only way to really know is to gauge Allen's reaction here.]
[Man...it is strange to have someone retell you a memory of yours, especially when he knows Clay was never there. He lowers his head a little, recalling that day, recalling that coat.]
Yeah...I remember all that.
[There's sadness to him, it reminds him that he still misses Mana, but he still smiles a little. The memories have long stopped hurting him as much as they used to. And at least Clay was able to see one of the good times]
...He was really tall, I'd still be shorter than him. And I hated how cute the coat looked, but it was really warm and well made. Mana spent all the extra money he had made street performing to afford it.
I...stopped wearing it after he died, I had grown out of it anyway. [As an aside, as if he hadn't really thought about it] I wonder what my Master did with it.
[During all that, Clay leans over to wrap his arms around Allen's shoulders, chin resting on one of them, in a way to tell Allen that he's there and listening. He lost a parent too, so he knows all too well how that feels. Not being able to handle owning something that they gave you, knowing it just reminds you of them... or, in his case, a mix of that and holding on too hard to what reminded him of her.
When Allen's done, Clay lifts his head to kiss his shoulder, then put his chin there again, looking at Allen as much as he can from this angle.]
Do you think he might've kept it? [He doesn't really know what his master is like and all.]
[And with that, he leans in to start pressing tiny kisses all over Allen's cheek, though he has to pause every now and then to grin and laugh. YOU WERE CUTE ALLEN IT'S OKAY]
[THIS IS EMBARRASSING. He's definitely blushing and trying to tilt his head away so Clay stops those tiny kisses, soon putting his normal hand up between Clay's face and his cheek]
[He kisses his normal hand as a result, then pulls himself away, still chuckling to himself now that he's been stopped in his kiss-attack, and holds up his hands in surrender.]
[He makes a huff sound at the surrender. Yep. He definitely feels embarrassed about being called adorable and a carrot-top. Like ugh, that was one thing he did not miss from losing his red hair.]
[But it's hard to say mad at Clay's reaction. So after a moment he'll turn to slide onto Clay's lap, sitting up on his knees that are on either side of clay's thighs. His arms wraps around the other's neck as he faces him directly]
Oh really?
I mean, you do know my childhood secret now. [That he was an angry brat carrot-top of a child]
[Whereas on Clay's end, it was just fun to get Allen riled up a bit. He'd never push too hard, but things like this? It's all in good fun and humor.
His laughter's calmed down enough by the time Allen slides in his lap, though Clay still gives a big smile as he slides his hands up his thighs and hips until they stop at his waist. Okay, so this is nice.]
Mm, yeah. Seems a bit unfair, huh? [He tilts his head a bit] I won't tell anyone, though.
You better not. [Not that he actually thinks Clay will. He was good at secrets. Still, he has to a tease a little] Dread Pirates don't take well to loose lips.
[He makes a little amused sound, then he'll offer him a smile at last]
It sounds like it was an accident that you saw that memory, so don't worry about it. Nothing wrong with a happy memory.
Well... Cowboys tighten their lips when it comes to secrets.
[Aha, he knew that smile would come out again. Still, it makes his own turn happier rather than teasing, and he leans up to kiss him. See, see? There be no secrets escaping from these lips.
When he breaks it, he leans back against the headboard, his hands settling lightly on Allen's hips.]
Still, it is unfair... [....... Look he has a point to make but it's hard when your boyfriend is naked and straddling your lap and Clay can't help glancing down his torso - NO FOCUS] I mean. That thing you told me - it's the same for me, you know? I want to know more about you... But I want you to tell me about yourself, whenever you want to tell me. These are your memories, and this place shouldn't be showing them off like that.
[He'll return that kiss, smiling into it. But when he pulls away and starts talking- he seems to get a little...uneasy. Maybe that's why he pulled the straddling move to begin with, to try to evade the topic in a subtle way. But he'll give him a nod when he finishes]
...Yeah. Maybe...Maybe we can swap stories someday, when we're ready. Me about Mana, you about your mum...
[He hesitates a little. Like he wants to say something more, but his eyes dart to points in the room before they focus back on Clay.]
Just...not here? I...I don't trust this ship not to have the walls listening.
[Honestly, he expected it. Which...fine. He could accept that was the grim reality for other aspects of his life. But like hell was he going to let Atroma use anything about Mana for their gain.]
Oh. Oh, okay. Clay had been wondering where the straddling came from in the first place. And... sadly, he has to admit that he sometimes forgets that they're on a reality TV show, and thus anything they say can be used for audiences everywhere. And Allen does want to talk about more, and that already means the world to Clay. Just... not here, and Clay understands why now.
So he nods, glancing at one of the points Allen was looking at before he looks back up at him again.]
It's a promise. Just ask me about her whenever you want.
["I'm ready to talk, just tell me when you're ready to hear."]
[He feels relief when Clay agrees. Honestly, had it been any other topic, he'd be more willing to talk about it now. Even Nea, his amount of care was limited about what Atroma heard.]
[But Mana...Mana was different. He was a topic he really didn't share with anyone- even Ino only knew bits and pieces of what his father was like. Teresa had been the only one to ever really get more than one line mentions about his father.]
[And even if part of him was becoming ready to tell Clay more than he told most, even if years of living his life had readied him to reflect back on that part of his life....he couldn't bear the thought of Atroma listening in. So hearing that Clay was willing to respect that...it was huge.]
Thank you... [He'll lean in close to give Clay a hug around his neck, shutting his eyes]
I do want to know about her. She must have been an incredible woman, to raise someone like you.
[Clay returns that embrace, arms wrapping around Allen's waist. He can tell - this is more about Mana than anything, and if Allen isn't ready to talk about him yet, if the thought of Atroma knowing about him makes him react like this, then Clay's willing to wait as long as Allen needed him to.
He shuts his eyes, just enjoying the feeling of being wrapped up in his boyfriend's arms and doing the same for him.]
She was. And she's the only one who did. Her and my aunt, but she's always been really busy with her own job.
[Which is why he'd been alone at the school on the night Allen had stumbled on his memory.]

They really are. [Clay leans into the touch, grateful for the comfort.] I know mine's not as bad as a lot of other people, but still.

I mean honestly, being forced to share so much whether we want to or not is hard for anyone.

Likely not. Unless it was expensive and from a beautiful woman, Master didn't care about sentiment.

Well, you did look adorable in it. [He tightens his hold around Allen's shoulders with a grin] An angry, checkered little carrot-top.
